Public Chauffeurs dataset changes

Due to a change in the source system, there will be some minor effects to the Public Chauffeurs dataset this evening (11/19/2018) and tomorrow morning:

  • The Record Number column will be removed. It exists only in the old source system, not the new one. Note that the License Number column will still exist and chauffeurs will retain their existing license numbers.
  • There will be a new Expires column showing the month and year in which the license expired or will expire if not renewed.
  • The Driver Type column will change to all capital letters for consistency with other text columns in the dataset.
  • 11/20/2018 Edit: At least initially, licenses that were invalid as of 11/19/2018 will no longer be shown in the dataset.

We are not expecting the dataset to become unavailable at any point but it may not reflect current data between 11/19/2018 4:30 pm and 11/20/2018 1:00 pm. Any change to that schedule, in either direction, will be posted as an update to this post. (11/20/2018 Edit: The target time for new data appearing was changed from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.)

See the Industry Notice posted by the Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection for more information.

As always, please contact the City of Chicago Open Data Team at dataportal@cityofchicago.org or @ChicagoCDO with any questions related to using the Data Portal. However, please direct any subject matter questions about public chauffeur licenses to BACPPV@cityofchicago.org.
